14° CAMPIONATO ATIMANA IN MESSICO
UN RECORD ASSOLUTO DI PRESENZE
Si è svolto quest’anno in Messico il 14°
Campionato ATIMANA, presso il
“Centro Deportivo de Telefonista” a Zumpango, a circa 35 chilometri dalla
Capitale.
Dire che è
stato un successo è la pura verità, in quanto, mai, neppure nel Paese
d’origine della razza, o in altre manifestazioni a livello mondiale (per la
cronaca al Campionato Mondiale di Milano nel 2000 c’erano 132 Mastini a
catalogo) si erano visti ben 150 Mastini Napoletani, e quel che più conta,
provenienti da ben 13 diverse Nazioni, Europa compresa. Quindi grande
soddisfazione per l’ATIMANA, ma anche per il Club Mexicano del Mastin
Napolitano, che quest’anno si è sobbarcato l’onere, certamente non facile,
di organizzare la Manifestazione.
Non è certamente facile e agevole
trasportare dei Mastini per così lunghe distanze, eppure pur di esserci,
pur di partecipare i concorrenti hanno fatto tutti gli sforzi per essere
presenti. A loro, a tutti loro va il più sentito ringraziamento per il
conseguimento di questo record numerico che rimarrà impresso, credo per
molto tempo, nella memoria di tutti noi. Questa è l’ ATIMANA e questo è il richiamo che ha il suo
annuale Campionato, vero e proprio confronto mondiale, nonché verifica
dello stato della razza a livello
internazionale.
Come sempre si
è anche parlato della salute del Mastino Napoletano e sono state
distribuite, in 4 lingue, le Relazioni dell’annuale “Conferenza Scientifica
Internazionale Sul Mastino Napoletano”, che, avendo come filo conduttore “La
longevità del Mastino Napoletano”, ha trattato quest’anno “Le dermatiti” – Relatore il Dr.
Nello Crimaldi - e “I problemi oculari nel Mastino” – Relatori i
Dottori Adolfo Guandalini e Gustavo Garcia Sanchez.
Per il
prossimo anno, a Budapest, in Ungheria, il Comitato Scientifico-Tecnico,
coordinato dal Prof. Luigi Guidobono Cavalchini, ha deciso di continuare il
tema delle “Dermatiti” , in
quanto questo è un problema particolarmente sentito dagli allevatori di
tutto il mondo.
Ritornando al
Campionato ATIMANA, Giudicato dalla gentilissima Edna Gonzales – Messico -
per i Puppys delle tre categorie, da Jesus Sanchez Pardo – Spagna - per le Femmine e da chi scrive per i
Maschi e il B.I.S., c’è subito da sottolineare l’ampiezza davvero eccezionale
dei ring (per altro necessaria visto i moltissimi iscritti in ogni classe)
ed il perfetto tappeto erboso che hanno consentito di valutare al meglio il
movimento di ogni singolo soggetto, particolare questo non sempre possibile
nelle Esposizioni Canine, visto, spesso, la ristrettezza dei rings.
Sotto il
profilo tecnico sia da me che dagli altri colleghi si è notato una qualità
davvero alta e lo dimostra il fatto dei molti Eccellenti assegnati
meritatamente nelle varie classi. Personalmente ho molto apprezzato le
classi Giovani Maschi (tra l’altro proprio da questa è uscito il vincitore
assoluto del B.I.S.) e Giovani Maschi di allevamento messicano. Ciò rappresenta il futuro della razza
che con queste premesse non può che essere di sicuro avvenire, anche in
Messico, un Paese che ha ben saputo sfruttare al meglio le ottime
importazioni fatte utilizzandole con criterio, ed il risultato si è visto.
Gli stessi Puppys, presentavano, in generale delle ottime qualità, a
conferma di quanto appena detto. Per la cronaca vincitore assoluto tra le
tre classi presenti ( da 3 a 6 mesi,da 6 a 9, e da 9 a 15) è risultato il
Maschio DANUBIO MENDEZ di proprietà del Sig. Jorge Jimenez Perez.
Tra le Classi
degli adulti, ho avuto conferma dal collega spagnolo della mia impressione
e cioè che le più interessanti per qualità, e quindi garanzia per
l’allevamento futuro, sono state la Libera Femmine e Libera di allevamento
messicano, con un totale di ben 23 soggetti iscritti, e la Campioni
Femmine, con 7. Nei Maschi adulti, Classe Libera e Libera di allevamento
messicano e Campioni, con un totale di 34 soggetti iscritti, e di questi
ben 10 in classe Campioni, ho potuto notare in generale un buon tipo,
costruzioni generalmente corrette e buoni movimenti. I difetti riscontrati
erano per lo più dovuti ad un eccesso di pelle, a volte troppo sottile,
mancanza di tonicità ed in qualche soggetto lassezza dei legamenti. Mi sono
particolarmente piaciuti i vincitori delle Classi Libera e Campioni, due
soggetti davvero tipici e con un’ottima costruzione, oltre che, beninteso,
il Vincitore della Classe Giovani, che è risultato, poi vincitore assoluto
del B.I.S., MARCO dello STRADONE VESUVIANO, un maschio di appena 16 mesi
che onora non solamente l’allevamento italiano, ma la Razza.
Da sottolineare,
doverosamente, la grande sportività di tutti i concorrenti che hanno sempre
accettato i giudizi, non solo senza alcuna discussione, ma
complimentandosi, tutti, con i vari vincitori: ciò e sempre più raro da
vedere in una cinofilia che, va distinguendosi per una crescente litigiosità. La grande
sportività rappresenta una costante continua nelle annuali manifestazioni
dell’ATIMANA dove l’importane è partecipare e dove il vero e unico trionfatore è sempre e solo il Mastino
Napoletano.

Il TROFEO DELLE NAZIONI, riservato a gruppi di soggetti nati nello
stesso Paese è stato vinto dal VENEZUELA con un
nutrito gruppo di bei Mastini, prevalendo di misura sul Messico.
Passa così alla storia il 14° CAMPIONATO ATIMANA 2004, che potremo definire il Campionato
del record. L’appuntamento per tutti è a Budapest, in Ungheria, il 1° e 2
di ottobre 2005, dove sarà il COLUMELLA
Molosser Club, con in testa l’Amico Attila Spiriev, ad organizzare
l’evento, con ben 2 CAC speciali in palio concessi dal Kennel Club
Ungherese, uno per la Monografica del Club, il sabato, e uno per il nostro
15° CAMPIONATO ATIMANA, la Domenica, e dove giudicheranno gli Amici e
Colleghi Guido Vandoni, Italia, i Maschi ed il B.I.S., e Stefan Sinko, le Femmine.

14° ATIMANA SHOW IN MEXICO
AN ABSOLUTE RECORD OF PARTECIPANT
This year in Mexico was held
the 14th ATIMANA Show, at
the “Centro Deportivo de Telefonista” in Zumpango, about 20 miles from the
Capital.
It was definitely a success, since never before,
not even in the Country of origin of the breed, or in any other world show
(just for the record, at the World Dog Show of Milan in 2000 there were 132
Mastini at catalog) there were as many as 150 Neapolitan Mastiffs, and
what’s more important, coming from 13 different Nations including Europe.
It was a great satisfaction for the ATIMANA and also for the Mexican Club of
Neapolitan Mastiff which this year took over the financial responsibility
to organize the show.
It’s not easy to ship a
Neapolitan Mastiff at so long distances, but the breeders made every effort
possible just to be there to participate. To all of them it goes the most
warm thanks for the accomplishment of this unique record which it will be
remembered for long time from all of us. This is ATIMANA, an annual
champinship which has reached the prestige of a world championship and it
proved that the breed is at an international level.
As usual there was discussion about the health
of the Neapolitan Mastiff and distributed in 4 languages was the relations
of the annual “ International Scientific Conference on the Neapolitan Mastiff”
which having as main subject “The
longevity of Neapolitan Mastiff”, and also discussed “The
dermatitis” – hosted by Dr. Nello Crimaldi – and also “The Ocular
Problems of the Neapolitan Mastiff” – hosted by Dr Adolfo Guandalini
and Dr Gustavo Garcia Sanchez.
For the next year in Budapest, Hungary, the
Techno-Scientific Committee, coordinated by Prof. Luigi Guidobono
Cavalchini, has decided to continue the subject of the “Dermatitis”,
because it is a very sensitive issue for breeders all around the world.
Regarding the ATIMANA Show judged by Mrs. Edna
Gonzales – Mexico – for the Puppies’ three classes, Mr. Jesus Sanchez Pardo
– Spain – for the Females, and myself for the Males and the B.I.S. The
first thing to point out is the size of the rings (luckily considering the
high number of participants in every class) and the perfect field covered
by grass, which helped to evaluate the best movement of every single
subject, which is not always possible in dog shows due to the limited
dimensions of the rings.
Under the technical profile, my colleagues and I
have noted a very high quality of dogs, marked by all the “Excellent” given
in the various classes. Personally I have really appreciated the Young Male
Class (right out of this class came out the winner of the B.I.S.) and Young
Males Mexican Bred. They represent the future of the breed, very promising,
even in Mexico a country that was able to use in the best way possible the
imports, and we’ve seen the results. The participants of the Puppy class generally
showed a very good quality, which confirmed what we just said. For the
record the overall winner of the three Puppy classes (3 to 6 months, 6 to
9, and 9 to 15) was the male DANUBIO MENDEZ owned by Mr. Jorge Jimenez
Perez.
Regarding the adult dog classes, I have been
confirmed by my Spanish colleague that my impression was true: the most
interesting for quality, a warranty for the future breed, was the “Open
Class Female” and “Open Class Mexican Breed”, which totaled to 23 dog
participants, and the Champion Female with 7. Regarding the adult Males
Open Class, Open Mexican Breed and Champion, which totaled to 34 dogs
participants, with 10 of them in the Champion Class, I have noted generally
a good type of breed, correct in the structure and with good movements. The
defects encountered were most of the time due to excess of skin, sometime
too thin, lack of muscle tone and in some subjects laxity of the ligaments.
I particularly liked the winners of the Open Class and the Champion Class,
two subjects very typical with great structure and of course the winner of
the Young Male Class, which at the end won the title of B.I.S., MARCO of
STRADONE VESUVIANO. This is a male of just 16 months old, which represent
an honor for the Italian breeder and the breed itself.
It’s proper to comment on the sportsmanship of
all the participants, who accepted all the judgments without arguing but
congratulated every winner. This is becoming very rare between all the dog enthusiasts,
which is distinguishing itself from increasing animosity). The great
sportsmanship represent a constant characteristic of the annual ATIMANA
Show, where it’s important to participate and the only true winner is the
Neapolitan Mastiff.

The NATIONS’ TROOPHY,
reserved to groups of dogs bred in the same country, was won by VENEZUELA,
which presented a group of nice dogs and prevailing above Mexico by one.
So it goes on record
the 14th
ATIMANA SHOW 2004, which we could call the SHOW OF THE RECORD. The next
appointment with all of you will be in Budapest, Hungary on Oct 1st and 2nd
2005, which will be organized by the COLUMELLA Molosser Club, lead by our
friend Attila Spiriev, with 2 CAC specials to assign, courtesy of the
Hungarian Kennel Club. One for the “Monografica of the Club on Saturday and
one for the 15th
ATIMANA Show on Sunday, which will be judged by our friends and colleagues
Guido Vandoni, Italy, for the males and the B.I.S. and Stefan Sinko for the
females.
