ATIMANA 2002 IN ITALIA GRANDIOSA PARTECIPAZIONE DEGLI STRANIERI

Sono arrivati veramente da tutto il mondo per il 12° CAMPIONATO ATIMANA, tenutosi quest'anno dal 27 al 29 Settembre a Contarina di Porto Viro in Italia. Sia come semplici spettatori, e si sono contate ben 21 diverse nazionalità, comprese Americhe, Australia e Giappone, che come concorrenti, provenienti da ben 13 Paesi, il più lontano dei quali veniva dal Venezuela. Mai viste tante Nazioni nei Mastini Napoletani neppure alle Esposizioni Mondiali.

In questa maniera 1'ATIMANA ha dimostrato, ancora una volta, la sua vera internazionalità e la sua capacità di concentrare per il suo annuale Campionato tantissimi Mastinari, provenienti da tutto il Mondo, che in un clima di grande sportività e di assoluta distensione, si scambiano impressioni, si raccontano le proprie esperienze, si scambiano i cani, fanno programmi di accoppiamenti, per far si che il miglior patrimonio genetico sia veramente di tutti. Questa è la vera forza dell'ATIMANA, e l'anno capita in molti, tanto che altre Nazioni vorranno affiliarsi all'ATIMANA.

Sono state tre giornate veramente piene. Si è cominciato il Venerdì sera con una riunione del Consiglio Direttivo . Poi, al Sabato, riunione del Comitato Scientifico­Tecnico, coordinato dal Prof. Guidobono Cavalchini, docente alla Università di Milano, che ha defmito i temi per le Prossime "Conferenze Scientifiche internazionali sul Mastino Napoletano", assieme ai Dr. Crimaldi e Pasini, al Sig. Palazzo ed al Presidente Alessandra. È stato dato un filo conduttore per tutte le Conferenze "LA LONGEVITA' DEL MASTINO NAPOLETANO " fissando, poi, di anno in anno temi specifici su particolari problematiche che ne limitano proprio la sua longevità. Un lavoro serio che vedrà impegnati, di volta in volta, Relatori Scientifici particolarmente esperti sui temi da trattare.

Successivamente, con la presenza del Sindaco di Porto Viro, Rag. Mancin, si è inaugurata la Mostra d'arte "Il Mastino Napoletana nell'arte contemporanea" con oltre trenta opere esposte. 1 molti visitatori hanno potuto ammirare dipinti e sculture di Artisti, di diverse nazionalità, alcuni dei quali notissimi, che hanno interpretato con i loro particolari stili questa tanto antica ed affascinante Razza Italiana. Veramente un grande successo per questa mostra che rimarrà aperta per 15 giorni. Peccato che le opere non fossero in vendita, in quanto appartenenti a collezionisti privati, perché i molti stranieri avrebbero voluto acquistarne parecchie.

Nel pomeriggio, si è tenuta l'annuale "Conferenza Scientifica Internazionale sul Mastino Napoletano", con una sala veramente gremita di Allevatori o semplici appassionati, che hanno seguito con grande interesse le due dotte relazioni, per altro tradotte in 5 lingue consentendo cosi di essere perfettamente capite dai molti stranieri presenti.

La prima, tenuta dal Dr. Nello Crimaldi, Medico Veterinario di Napoli e Vice Coordinatore del Comitato Scientifico dell'ATIMANA, ha trattato "L'igiene e la salute delle fattrici nell'allevamento del Mastino Napoletano" soffermandosi in modo particolare su "il calore, l'accoppiamento, la gravidanza ed il parto: Momenti e segni di riconoscimento ".

La seconda, tenuta dal Prof. Luigi Guidobono Cavalchini, Docente alla Facoltà di Medicina Veterinaria dell'Università di Milano, che ha parlato su "Selezione del Mastino Napoletano:Analisi dei dati di fertilità e consanguineità". Due temi di grande interesse ed attualità che sono stati seguiti da tutti i presenti con la massima attenzione, anche perché era la prima volta, nella storia della razza, che si affrontavano tali argomenti.

Di seguito si è tenuta l' annuale Assemblea Generale ATIMANA nel corso della quale, tra l'altro, sono stati deliberati i programmi per il prossimo anno, Campionato e Conferenza, che si terranno in Spagna, a Seva, a 30 chilometri a nord di Barcellona, in una splendido centro polifunzionale,  11 e 12 ottobre 2003. Il giorno 11 si terrà la "Monografica" del Club Spagnolo, incaricato dell'organizzazione, la Conferenza Scientifica e l'Assemblea Generale ATIMANA, mentre Domenica 12 ottobre sarà riservata per il 13° CAMPIONATO ATIMANA che vedrà come Giudici l'italiano Dr. Novaresio per tutti i Maschi ed il B.I.S. e lo spagnolo Carlo Salas per le femmine. Una doppia opportunità, quindi, per i "Mastinari" che con i loro soggetti potranno concorrere sia per il Campionato ATIMANA, sia per il CAC speciale, necessario per il Campionato Spagnolo.

La lunga giornata si è conclusa con la cena ufficiale, con oltre 100 presenze, durante la quale il Sindaco ed il Presidente del Parco Regionale del Delta del Po hanno voluto dare dei significativi regali ai Giudici, ai Relatori Scientifici, a tutte le Delegazioni ufficiali straniere (ed erano veramente molte) ed ai concorrenti stranieri provenienti da più lontano. Un'incontro per tutti veramente apprezzato, per meglio conoscersi e per utili scambi di esperienze.

Infine la Domenica la disputa del 12° Campionato ATIMANA. Giudici l'Ing. Katerina Beckova, della Repubblica Ceka, per tutti i Cuccioloni, Giovani e Veterani ed il sottoscritto, per tutte le classi Libera e Campioni. Novanta i cani a catalogo e assai nutrita la partecipazione straniera,oltre il 30%, con cani provenienti, come dicevo, da ben 13 Nazioni; piuttosto sparuta la rappresentanza italiana, ma di altissima qualità. Le

molte assenze sono dovute, purtroppo ad una campagna denigratoria e intimidatoria posta in essere, in Italia, da parte di alcuni contro 1'ATIMANA. Hanno ottenuto l'effetto contrario, in quanto tutti gli stranieri, e devo dire anche molti italiani, hanno fatto quadrato per sostenerla a dimostrazione del serio lavoro che quotidianamente viene svolto, senza alcun interesse diretto. Peccato perché a soffrirne è solo e sempre proprio il Masino Napoletano!

1 giudizi si sono svolti con assoluta serenità, senza tensioni, e tutte le classifiche di ogni classe sono state sottolineate da scroscianti applausi, anche da parte di tutti i concorrenti, segno questo di grande sportività e maturità. Ai concorrenti tutti va il più sincero ringraziamento per la loro partecipazione, sono loro che rappresentano la vera forza dell'ATIMANA.

Tra tutti si è affermato come migliore di razza e Campione ATIMANA 2002 il Multi Ch. DAMOCLE del SIRBONE, di Sandro Saba, presentatosi in grandissima forma, tanto da impressionare tutti e bissando così il risultato dello scorso anno in Francia ed titolo mondiale vinto quest'anno ad Amsterdam, mentre tra le Femmine si è imposta, vincendo per la seconda volta il titolo di CAMPIONE ATIMANA, la bellissima Ch. It. ILLIMANI IDA, di Michele Palazzo, una femmina di grande tipicità e di ottima struttura,che ha avuto il solo torto di non aver voluto camminare proprio nello spareggio. Per quanto riguarda i Titoli di Campioni Giovani, questi sono andati a EMIR V.D. WILTIMANA, di proprietà di Fraiquin, proveniente dall'Olanda, per i maschi, mentre il titolo per le femmine è stato vinto da SARA del GHENO, di proprietà della Signora Tessarolo.

Infine, il "Trofeo delle Nazioni" riservato a squadre di Club è stato vinto con pieno merito dal Club Ungherese che ha presentato un gruppo di tre Mastini neri, di altissima qualità e che si imponevano per tipicità, struttura e potenza.

A tutti i vincitori, dei vari titoli e di tutte le Classi, vanno i migliori complimenti di tutta 1'ATIMANA. Il loro lavoro in allevamento, serio ed impegnato, ha avuto in quest'occasione il dovuto riconoscimento.

Passa così in archivio l'edizione 2002. L'appuntamento per tutti è fissato per , 11 e 12 Ottobre 2003 in Spagna, a Seva, dove si terrà la l3° edizione del nostro Campionato. Prima di concludere sento il dovere di ringraziare il Sindaco della Città di Porto Viro, Rag. Doriano Mancin, per quanto ha fatto per noi, patrocinando la manifestazione e contribuendo in modo sostanziale anche sotto il profilo economico, e l'Amico carissimo Ettore Crepaldi, Revisore dell'ATIMANA, che con il Gruppo Cinofilo Delta, da Lui presieduto, è stato il vero artefice di questo ulteriore grande successo per il Mastino Napoletano.

ATIMANA 2002 IN ITALY. GREAT PARTICIPATION OF FOREIGNERS.

People came from all over the world in occasion of the 12^th ATIMANA CHAMPIONSHIP, this year held from 27^th to 29^th of September in Contarina di

Porto Viro in Italy. There were spectators from 21 different countries , America, Australia and Japan included. Also the competitore came from 13 different nations, the furthest being from Venezuela. We had never seen so many countries attending the Neapolitan Mastiff championship, not even at World Exhibitions.

Once more, ATIMANA showed its internationality and its power to gather so many mastiff fans for its annual Championship. In a relaxed atmosphere and with great sportsmanship, these people, coming from all over the world, exchanged impressions, experiences and their own dogs, planning future breedings in order to share the best genetic heritage. This is the true power of ATIMANA and many people have got it, so that other countries want to join ATIMANA.

These were three busy days. We started on Friday night with a reunion of the the Board of Directors. On Saturday took place a reunion of the Technical-scientific Committee which is coordinated by Mr. Guidobono Cavalchini, professor at Milan University, who, together with Mr. Crimaldi, Mr. Pasini, Mr. Palazzo and the chairman Alessandra, set out the themes for the future "International Scientific Conferences on Neapolitan Mastifff'. All the conferences will have as leitmotiv: "THE LONGEYITY OF THE NEPOLITAN MASTIFF". Year alter year, more specific themes will be set, and we will focus on what indeed limits dogs' longevity. A serious task that will involve scientific speakers who are expert in the field.

Afterwards, in the presence of the mayor of Porto Viro, Mr. Mancin, we opened the art exhibition "The Neapolitan Mastiff in contemporary art" where more than thirty works were displayed. Visitors had the chance to admire paintings and sculptures made by International artists, some of whom very well known, who with their peculiar styles have interpreted this fascinating Italian breed.

This has been a great success for this exhibition, that will be open for 15 days. It's a pity that those works were not on sale, since owned by private collectors, because many foreigners would have bought them.

In the afternoon the annual "International scientific conference on Neapolitan Mastff' took place, in a room filled up with breeders and simple fans who listened with great interest to two important speakers. Their papers were translated into five different languages so that all the foreigners attending the event were able to understand them.

The first speech was delivered by Mr. Nello Crimaldi, veterinarian from Naples and Vice-coordinator of ATIMANA's Scientific Committee. Crimaldi's paper was about "Hygiene and health of brood females in breeding the Neapolitan Mast ff' and focus the attention on "heat, breeding, pregnancy and delivery: moments and signs of recognition ".

The second speech, delivered by Professor Luigi Guidobono Cavalchini, Professor of the Department of Veterinary science at Milan University, was, about "Selection of the Neapolitan Mastf analisys of fertility and consanguinity ". These two topics are of great interest and relevance, and all the participants paid great attention to them, even because it was the first time ever that these themes were addressed.

A$erwards the annual ATIJLVIANA General Assembly was held. On that occasion the programmes for the year to come were set and among these the Championship and the Conference, that will take place in Seva, Spain, a city 30 Km north of Barcelona, in a marvellous multipurpose centre. This event will occur or11^th and 12th of October 2003. October/11^th , there wiil be the "Monographic" of the Spanish Club (entrusted of the organization), the Scientific Conference and the ATIMANA General Assembly. On Sunday, October 12t^h, the 13^th ATIMANA Championship will take place. The judges will be Mr. Novaresio,Iitalian, for the all the male dogs and for the B.I.S. and Mr. Carlo Salas, Spaniard, for the female dogs.

This is a double opportunity both for the Mastifff s fans who will be able to compete with their dogs and for the ATIMANA Championship and moreover, for the special CAC, necessary for the Spanish Championship.

The long day carne to an end with an ofcial dinner, attended by more than 100 people, during which the Mayor and the Chairman of the Regional Park of the Po delta offered some presents to the Judges, to the Scientific Speakers, to all the foreign ofcial Delegations (and they were many indeed) and to the foreign competitors who came from the furthest places.

This meeting was widely appreciated, an occasion to know better each other and to exchange useful experiences.

Eventually on Sunday the 12^th ATIMANA Championship took place. The judges were the engineer Katerina Beckova (from Czech Republic) for the Puppies, Young dogs and Veteran dogs categories and myself for all the others. We had 90 dogs, 30% of which came from abroad, as we have said before from 13 different countries; the Italian representation was quite scant, but it was top quality.

Unfortunately, the lack of attendences is due to a defamatory and intimidatory campaign led against ATIMANA by some italian people.

They had the opposite result, since all the foreigners and many Italians have supported ATEVIANA and this proves how serious is the job we carry out every day without any direct interest. It's a pity because the Neapolitan Mastiff is the only victim of all this.

All the judgements avere passed in a relaxed and tensionless atmosphere, and the results of each category avere accompanied by thunderous applauses, a sign of great sportsmanship and maturity. However, I want to thank all the competitors for their participation, they are the true strength of ATIMANA.

Among all the participants, multi Ch. Damocle del Sirbone, of property of Sandro Saba, turned out to be the winner of ATIMANA 2002. He was in great shape and impressed everybody repeating the result of last year in France and the one of Amsterdam where this year he has won the world title. Among the females for the second time, the beautiful Ch. It. Ilmani Ida, of property of Michele Palazzo, became ATIMANA champion. She is a female of great tipicality and with an excellent structure, and her only fault was not to want to walk in the deciding moment.

As long as other Titles are concerned, they avere won by the male EMIR V.D. WILTIIVIANA, of property of Fraiquin (Netherlands) and by the female SARA del GHENO, of property of Ms. Tessarolo. Both the male and the; female competed in the young dogs càtegory.

In the end, the "Trhophee of the Nations", to be won by Clubs, was awarded to the Hungarian one, which presented a top quality group of three mastiffs. They won thanks to their tipicality, their structure and their strength.

ATIMANA pays its compliments to all the winners of the different titles and categories. Their serious and careful work during the breeding phase, has been greatly recognized on this occasion.

So the 2002 edition is over. Next appointment is in Seva, Spain, for11^th and.12 ^th of October when the 13^th edition of our Championship will be held. Before concluding I have to thank the Mayor of Porto Viro, Mr. Doriano Mancin who did so much for us patronizing this event and supporting us also from an economic point of view. Moreover I want to thank my dear friend Ettore Crepaldi, Supervisor of ATIMANA, that with the Gruppo Cinofilo Delta, chaired by him, was the person who made possible this great success for the Neapolitan Mastiff.
